Yes, this is when I went to my first ever pole lesson... but I didn't stay regular all this time... Otherwise I would have been a pro by now... At that point I was living in Netanya and I have been going to some belly dance lessons - still very irregularly. So when I heard that there are going to be pole lessons at my local gym - I couldn't resist I had to try and see what they are like :) I really didn't know much about pole dancing... I have only heard about it from TV shows and music videos... Bit those things present only one side of pole dancing - the exotic side... which is not my style... So I went to the lesson and I remember that the warm up got me exhausted already. We had to assemble our poles and thank goodness I got help from the girls. After the poles were in place we were sharing them because there were more girls than poles. What I found most fun right from the beginning was - climbing :) I think that we just tried simple lift on the pole (basic climb) but that is the base for learning climbing. The pole felt like this solid, cold supper slippery thing and oh... I knew it was going to be difficult but I really didn't know how difficult it is... We didn't do a lot of stuff in the first lesson - only a couple of things - I think that we did the chair spin probably too... Oh yes and the instructor did help me do an invert - she said that this helps with overcoming the fear of hanging upside down on the pole... And the thing is - yes she did help me to get up there but then I felt a bit stuck - I really didn't know how to get off ;) So I just started slowly very slowly releasing the grip from my legs and I managed to slide down without getting hurt :) yey :) Learning to do the basic invert took me such a long time... over a year... but more on that later... After the lesson - I was completely exhausted. I was happy dough - I met new friends, It was a lot of fun. I was pleased with myself because I did manage to do some of the stuff. And I was excited to go again and learn more and more :) One thing that I didn't know is that pole dancing leaves serious bruises - especially in the begging. So next morning I saw my legs and wow... there were quite a lot of bruises but you know I didn't feel sad about them. I felt like - I must have really done something, maybe I did better than I thought :)
